How much electricity can Solar PV panels produce

Answer

A solar PV system is measured in size according to the number of kWh it would produce in an ideal environment. For the Mediterranean region, the DNI (direct normal irradiation) ranges from 5.0 to 6.0 kWh/m2/day so a 1 kilowatt peak (kWp) system is expected to produce between 1300 to 1550 AC kWh every year. In this region, the average household uses approximatively 5000 kWh every year. Therefore a ~3.5 kWp system will produce your yearly requirements and avoid around 2100 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions. With a life span of at least 25 years, a 3.5 kWp system will generate around 120,000 kWh and avoid approximately 52 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions in its lifetime.
